nerdfest.

so with the hit summer blockbuster Transformers 2 that just came out still in hype.. i'll continue my NERD fest. and i'm not embarrassed to do so. after the first film came out, my sister went out on a limb and bought a very expensive Bumblebee figure, one that actually transforms, lights up, talks, plays music, and moves animatronically. it's actually a pretty cool collectors item and stands in robot form over a foot tall.

check out the figure in car form. it's surprisingly detailed:

transform.

transformers-fallenafter a failed attempt at watching Transformers at a midnight showing last night (all eight theaters at Harkins and all seven theaters at AMC were sold out hours before midnight), i was able to finally catch a showing with RobRob (@r0br0bles) and Neil. i enjoyed the movie a lot. definitely worth watching it in a theater over a measly cam download. watching it with the imax experience may cause nausea with some of the camera work, haha. it's michael bay. if you're gonna complain about loudness and too many explosions.. then i would suggest not watching a movie about giant robots going to war. anyway, on to the movie.

it's not a perfect movie. far from it actually. but like i said, i thoroughly enjoyed it. to the max. major. but here are things i liked and disliked. (by the way, this contains no spoilers, so you can feel free to read even if you haven't seen the movie)

CONS: now onto the movie's flaws.. comedy was actually a driving force in the movie. while it may have been needed to keep the audience entertained.. it was a lot more than one would expect, almost hitting the excessive mark, but doesn't get too out of hand. i do get a bit annoyed when comedy is thrown in unnecessarily, like during an intense battle scene, but it's hollywood. speaking of comedy, i don't know if i was too fond of the twins, mudflap and skids. they were.. funny.. i guess? i dont know.. i think it wouldn't have made much of a difference in plot if they were not even included in the movie and ironhide and ratchet accompanied sam the whole time instead. oh, that random decepticon pretender girl was random as hell. and for devastator having such an epic 'coming alive' scene, he was severely underused. the whole section in the middle of the movie when they pick up jetfire felt incredibly long. once the movie was finished, i can see how the whole jetfire thing was needed, but it still felt draggy at that part. also, the plot was finally cleared up at that point. it took till the middle of the movie to finally explain what the heck was going on. but it's ok, jetfire's character makes up for that flaw, haha. megatron and fallen actually seemed pretty weak to me. megatron especially in comparison with his performance in the first film. i think if megatron wasn't under fallen's authority, he could have been so much stronger. the biggest thing that i didn't like about the movie was the faceless autobot characters: jolt, ironhide, ratchet, sideswipe, and of course the female, more curvaceous arcee, chromia, moonracer. ironhide and ratchet only got 2-3 lines, arcee only got half a line, and jolt only helped out near the end for about 2 seconds. there was almost no character development to them, especially with sideswipe's awesome introduction at the beginning of the movie.

PROS: the witwicky parents. as comical and almost cartoon-like as they are, they are hilarious. the mom especially. much more comical than she was in the first. and the dad -- he took on quite a role towards the end. showing actual emotion rather than being a funny guy. the scene between sam and his dad (and mom) during the last battle scene was so emotional it almost had me choke. but dad/son relationships in movies always get to me. i liked how there were a lot more characters in the movie, both in the human aspect and in the robot aspect. the fight scenes were much more detailed and engaging than the first. notable ones include the forest fight between optimus vs megatron and starscream. intense. another is of course the last battle, but emphasis on bumblebee's fight with rampage. man, when bee puts his helmet on, that guy goes crazy hardcore. jetfire's character is awesome. and old-man transformer with a great sense of humor. the music. if you read my previous entry, you'll see that i was a bit disappointed at how there were no hero/autobot themes. and that it was great as a compliment/addition to the first score. turns out i was right, because they used a lot of the cues from the first film for familiarities sake, which would be too redundant if included in the released score. so i was very happy to hear some familiar cues throughout the movie, took me by surprise. oh and megan fox. how do you miss this one. i thought she looked better in this film than she did in the first (i was actually ehh with her in the first film). i liked how they toned down her make-up a teeny bit from the first, she looked less artificial. but still artificial of course.. i mean, she looks hot face down in sand with explosions all over the place, but its hollywood, and who's gonna complain about that?

so i did end up liking the movie a lot.. and everything said here is simply my opinion.

review.

my thoughts on a few things:

TakingPelham123Pelham 123 SCORE by Harry Gregson-Williams
i'm not gonna lie, i'm pretty disappointed with this score by HGW. there was no recurring theme to keep the listener interested.. or to even give the score a personality of familiarity. HGW's gonna need to step it up a bit and get back on that scoring high. the last really memorable score he's done was for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Wolverine was pretty boring, and nothing in 2007 really jumps out at me. As far as Pelham 123 goes, the score was his normal electronic synth to convey suspense sound, but it feels like it was limited to just that. a couple emotional piano accompanied cues, but all-in-all a pretty boring score.

i'd give it 1.5 out of 4 stars.

20090611-the-hangoverThe Hangover
i thoroughly enjoyed this movie. after reading a bunch of rave reviews, i knew i had to go out and see it. it fell under the same category i would put Drag Me To Hell -- a movie that seems like it would get bad reviews, getting good ones. many of my peers who have seen The Hangover said they were laughing the entire time. and to be honest, i was... but it was more like a chuckle to myself rather than actually laughing out loud. some things i wished would have happened though: that they would explain in more detail what really happened, rather than a picture slideshow at the very end. like where all the people came from in the party they had in their room, and the random chicken walking around. but despite a few fallbacks, i must say -- alan's speech he gave at the rooftop about the wolfpack is classic.

i'd give it 3 out of 4 stars.

Trans2FrontTransformers 2 SCORE by Steve Jablonsky
very good and powerful score, but doesn't quite match up to the epic-ness of Jablonky's score for the first Transformers movie, which is understandable.. read on. Upon listening, i love how on the cue "Nest," he's incorporated an instrumental portion of Linkin Park's current made-for-movie single "New Divide." To seamlessly work Linkin Park into your movie score is a risk worth taking, and in Jablonsky's case, well done. i was a bit saddened by the fact that he pretty much ditched the Autobot melody/theme. but was relieved to hear it towards the end of the score.. but to hear it at the 10th cue out of the 14 tracks is a pretty long wait. but then i remembered that this movie is pretty much a Deceptacon revenge movie, so it makes sense that the "good guy" theme wouldn't be heard until the end. but this score is missing some truly epic sounds that the first had. For example, the first score had tracks like "The All Spark," "Arrival to Earth," and "No Sacrifice, No Victory." But what this score lacks in epic-ness makes up for it in it's dark and somber soundscapes. "Infinite White" is a deep, sad, and haunting theme. I'm pretty interested to know what part of the movie this falls on. "I Rise, You Fall" is pretty much the ending track/clone to "No Sacrifice, No Victory," and literally ends in the same exact way. All-in-all, the score is a very good listen, but I'd use it more as a compliment/addition to the first score. Together, they are great, and both contain what the other is missing. harry gregson-williams, you are still my favorite composer, but i'm sorry, you need to step it up to live up to these kind of scores!

i'd give it 3.3 out of 4 stars.

but either way, i'm seeing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in a few hours! so expect my thoughts on the movie pretty soon!

swine.

PigKiss
i blame this stupid child for the epidemic swine flu outbreak. stupid stupid girl.

i apologize for that short hiatus that my website went on, had some issues to deal with over at livejournal in order to get it to embed correctly into my website. i blame the stupid stupid girl in the above picture.

i woke up to some horrible news today. "entertainer of the year" for what seemed like every year for the past 10 years or so, Danny Gans, passed away this morning in his sleep! that guy was a legend, and literally the FACE of Las Vegas! everywhere you look, you'd see a billboard of this guy in his all black outfit and his white background. at only 52, i do hope he has a peaceful rest. again, i blame the stupid stupid girl in the above picture.

also found out while watching the news having my homemade sausage mcmuffin (yes, be jealous), that a bunch of hydroxycut products are being recalled. there have been over 23 liver damage cases caused by the regular dosage of this supplement since March. that's only over a month ago! of those cases, one actually needed a liver transplant, and one had even died from complications of liver damage. just putting it out there because i know people who take hydroxycut not only to lose weight, but as a simple replacement for energy drinks. beee careful out there! what can cause such a thing to happen??? i blame the stupid stupid girl above.

you should watch Barkada's PACN tonight. $18 at the door. it's going to be a great show. and then watch Ultimate Brawl on Sunday. bMod performing at both.

i want to watch X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Obsessed, and when it comes out, Angels & Demons. who's down?? LET'S GOOOO!!

hell.

first day of fusion hell week is over.

started practice at 10:30pm!! it's alright because of all the events that went on tonight though. couple newly inducted SHEROES had a meeting/practice, and our very own Jackie taught her very first Boogiezone class in which the team attended. but starting late means ending late.. and after what i hear was a very intense class that jackie taught, everyone was already drained come practice time. a few hours in, delirium sets. and that just causes chaos. i let it slide a little since those who needed to work were still working. plus at the end of practice, the team was able to pull everything together and put out a pretty good rough-runthrough.

in other news, i just saw the movie trailer for The Taking of Pelham 123. looks pretty intense, like a modern day Speed. and John Travolta is playing a bad guy. crazy! if anyone remembers Tom Cruise's role as the bad guy in Collateral, it worked pretty well for him. anyways, the movie is about a hostage situation of a metro/train taken by Travolta; the protagonist to save the day is mr. Denzel Washington.. and a couple surprises popped up in the preview: one of my favorite actors, James Gandolfini (best known as Tony Soprano) makes an appearance, and Harry Gregson-Williams is doing the score. i usually know these things.. so it came as quite a surprise to see both of them in this movie.

on my drive home from practice, BLASTING the new Rascal Flatts album, Unstoppable (because as you know, i cant turn my volume down..), their song "Why" came on. such a sad song.. at first it just sounded like a somber ballad, but when i really listened to the lyrics and realized what it was about, it literally gave me chills. it's about a teen taking his/her own life. CLICK HERE to listen or check out the snippet:

Oh why? that's what I keep asking.
Was there anything I could have said or done?
Oh, I had no clue you were masking a troubled soul.
God only knows what went wrong.
And why you'd leave the stage in the middle of a song.

anyways, i know why i've always hated having soda available at home. i drink that stuff like water! it's 4:30am and i just downed a glass! sleepfail?! i'm not sure, caffeine has never really affected me that much.

well obviously, my delirium has taken the best of me and produced this very random entry.. gnite!

dream.

i had quite a weird dream last night.. that's a lot to say considering: i NEVER remember any of my dreams.. and if i do, the dream is just about my daily life as if i was doing the things i would normally do..

but my dream last night:

CAST
Myself, Alex Manucal, Neil Grecia and his friend Kwaku, and some girl..

SETTING
lost in some tropical forest with bugs/animals i've never seen

PLOT
okay so maybe i dont remember ALL of it.. but a remember a small chunk: the five of us were lost in this tropical forest. it wasn't a dark scary forest or anything, the overstory (top of trees) wasn't too dense so the sun was able to shine right through and light up the understory where we were walking. kwaku, being as tall as he is, bumps his head on a huge flower.. and out flies a little bug.. it looked like a small white worm/caterpillar with wings. it looked irked and aggressive and started attack kwaku as he tried to shoo it away. i see the bug take a stab at kwaku's face. after a loud "OUCH!" the bug flies away.

we continue on our 'adventure' to get out of the forest. no other animal/bug encounters that i can remember, but along the way, alex notices kwaku's face starting to swell, like a bunch of bubbles in his skin. we all turn, and his face is swelling bigger as we watch. the skin bubbles start popping and yellow oozy stuff starts spewing out all over the place. so we all freak out and start running, bumping into plants and releasing more of those little white bugs flying everywhere.. and that's all i remember.

Random Movie Review:
Taken. starring Liam Neeson

me alex and neil watched this movie last night. despite its slightly below average rating on rottentomatoes.com, i thoroughly enjoyed the movie. i would say it's a very close sibling to the transporter (starring jason statham) series.

action starts almost immediately. what would you expect from an up-there high-profile security officer who's daughter was kidnapped overseas with almost no heads-up as to who may have taken her so he has to use super investigative security forensics skills and methods to find her in 96 hours or else she'll mostly likely never be found? there's a LOT of "oh sh*t, that was crazy!" fight scene moments. while the ending does come quite abrupt, the movie was still done quite well.

...and looking at all the bMod finances are giving me a headache.. woo..

sense.

i had a strange experience the other day.. i was home alone on my laptop minding my own business, then all of a sudden i just feel weird, almost claustrophic.. like something was closing in on me. then i smell a scent of a cologne.. as if someone had walked passed me. i recognized the smell.. but couldn't put my finger on who it reminded me of.. i was spooked for a bit afterwards. usually when someone experiences that sort of thing, it's usually a scent of someone who had recently passed, like an old relative or something.. but the scent i smelled was familiar, like of someone i know currently. but then i brushed it off and got ready to go to Lust..

really liked the crowd at Lust this past Saturday! loved how it was a very mixed crowd, and a lot of girls.. making it easier for me to take pictures. i hate when the crowd is a bunch of guys who are "too cool" for the camera. a good handful of bmod was also there making the night interesting as always. all-in-all a very good night and turnout. headed to denny's afterwards and ended the night shortly after.

then the next day i woke up sick.. yayyyy boo...

random movie review: BOLT. i thoroughly enjoyed this film. i was kindof afraid of watching it because it wasn't a pixar film. and compared to disney's previous attempts at computer animation films i was not expecting much. i thought Chicken Little was horrible. i felt Meet the Robinsons was trying way to hard and it was just too busy. but disney got level-headed with Bolt. they went back to their storytelling roots and took some smarts from Pixar. and while i wouldn't put it up there right next to a pixar movie, it's pretty close. a little dog who thinks he's a superhero; that makes for a pretty enjoyable movie.

kobe on the balconyactually kinda made me miss kobe. it's been a little different not having the little guy walking around lightening the mood. i mean, as a pet, he just walks around without a care in the world.. and he was always a reminder to me especially when i was stressed out, to lighten up a bit. but i visited jamie's for lunch on tuesday, and was surprised to see that she leaves the balcony doors open for kobe to freely walk in and out. so he now has his first taste of being outside, ahha

wing.

i had wingstop with alex and jay for the first time on monday. i enjoyed it but, and i'm not saying that wingstop isn't good, it made me crave buffalo wild wings even more.. or at least the mango habanero sauce. we then went to CeFiore for some frozen yogurt. chocolate and peanut butter yogurt plus waffle cone pieces equals awesome. but i ate too many wings and alex had to finish my yogurt. took a random trip into CVS and looked at everything, anything, and nothing at the same time.

the same of us plus kat attended a barkada birthday gathering at dc on wednesday after a fun dinner at bj's. finally bought my ading a drink since he turned 21 in december! no more irish carbombs for me at bj's though.. things are freakin' expensive. proceeded to more fun at the house.

anyways, the ball is in your court. why should i even attempt to pursue when the last time i did, i was utterly and obviously ignored? this is not mine to settle.

i'm excited to welcome kyleen back! she has decided to dance with bMod again!! i'm eager to see how that goes.

tomorrow.. err today, is the grand re-opening of The Rooted Movement crew's event at Locust Lounge now called Lust! DO come out!! i'll be taking pictures of the night as with every Saturday night, so yeah.. parrtay!

random movie review: i watched Eagle Eye earlier.. i enjoyed it quite thoroughly. the suspense and edge-of-your-seat action is almost non-stop. i'll admit that a lot of the movie is improbable and maybe even impossible and unrealistic, but it still worked for me. the ending is what i expected from many a not-so-good review, but the rest of the movie backed it up pretty well... in my opinion of course.

updatation.

there's gonna be a lot of random and unsorted stuff in this entry.

bmod practices have been getting very tiring for me.. but in that "getting a lot of stuff done" kind of tired.. so a good tired.. but at the same time, wishing i wasn't in so many pieces kind of tired.. haha!

me, jackie, rj and jean highly recommend the new pita snack at jack in the box.. in our opinions it was quite good. and only a dollar something. you get pita, inside is your choice of chicken (crispy or grilled), fish, or steak.. and then you get cheese, lettuce, and a really good chipotle sauce in there that is just nicely spiced.

give nkotb's album "the block" a listen. you may be surprised.

the iron man dvdrip leaked.. as well as the dark knight screener... and yeah, the dark knight was quite hyped.. i think too hyped for me, because i was expecting a little too much from it.. i thoroughly enjoyed iron man though. but it suffers from transformers syndrome.. where it's fine the first time you watch it.. but anytime after, you'll be extremely bored during the first half.

the CMA music festival is going to air tonight in about 25 minutes.. not that anyone who reads this would care.. haha. i lose.

anyways, shameless plug:

bMod Workshops Flyer     bMod Audition Flyer
bmod will be holding workshops in san jacinto on sept 20
as well as auditions for the team on oct 20-23. come out!

beezee.

last weekend's rooted movement 2 year anniversary party at highlands in hollywood was all kinds of awesome.. and the aftermath was all kinds of not.

bmod's beach outing on saturday was fun as well; even though kj and i made a death defying walk with a bunch of beach stuff. our grill and ice chest failed.. so bad that our neighboring beach-goers decided to sell us their grill!

my sister's and mom's birthdays were on the 4th and the 6th; while not hugely celebrated, they were still celebrated nonetheless. but i do miss those days when your birthday was THE thing to look forward to.. that, and Christmas..

we've been feeding kobe less because he's starting to gain a lot of weight. and yesterday, when me arvin vince and bert went to fry's on our nerd trip, i bought some batteries for my red laser (not the green one, that would kill my cat), so that kobe has something to chase around. threw the batteries in; and then his fun started.. but it only lasted about 3 minutes before he got bored of the laser.. whomp!

did quite some movie downloading/watching... highly recommended: wanted, hot rod. recommended: hancock. avoid at all costs: poseidon, premonition, the happening. yet to watch: the wackness.

the world is currently all blah right now; but im doing my part to attempt to maintain balance. because the only thing worse than blah is a chaotic blah.

digsby.

nerdpost.

i have dropped using pidgin. it has served me well for the past 2 years after i dropped aim because of bloat-ness. and for software, 2 years is like an eternity. for those familiar with the crazy popular mac im client, adium; pidgin was advertised to be the same.. but a windows version, both running off the libpurple engine, except the windows counterpart running off the gtk interface. and for me, pidgin was just never up to par to its advertised big brother adium.

i then stumbled upon digsby purely by accident browsing through the twitter website. this little guy has everything in one package. it has pretty much everything i wanted in adium, but with the simplicity of pidgin. plus email and social networking integration, meaning it gives me updates on any facebook, myspace, and twitter activity without having to open a browser. and what's better, is that it seamlessly works with adium's conversation skins. i know, skins just slow programs down, but if a skin can look great without using many resources, im all for it. my only wish for further development is support for flickr. that would be quite awesome.

some screens:

watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall today. very good movie. i would recommend it. i've only heard good things about it so my expectations were high, and i was still impressed. which can only mean good.

and yesterday, had a bit of a confuzzled moment. when i signed onto twitter via the web, i got a big red box saying "hey, is your phone okay?" saying they tried to send me updates to no avail. i thought not too much of it and re-enabled phone updates. later on in the day, i had decided to sign onto aim on my phone. send the message. but then the aim on my computer didn't say another account signed on.. and my phone never received a confirmation. so i texted chad, and asked him online if he received it. nothing. sent an email to my phone from my outlook. and i didn't get anything. it took all that for me to realize that my phone wasn't receiving or sending texts for that entire day! what was i to do? im heavily dependent on those things.

signed onto the at&t website to check out our plan. and i noticed that the 1500 texts a month that me and my sister should get weren't there anymore. informed my dad. he called at&t and they apologized for making the mistake of accidentally removing our text services. but then gave us a better deal than what we were paying for and gave all four of the phones under our plan unlimited texts for the same price. and my texts started working instantly.. although any and all texts i would have received during the day were lost forever in cell phone land.

bye!

re.

hm, so i've noticed; when people have that "everyone, even my friends, are just out to get me" attitude.. it's usually not everyone out there with the problems.. it's just that person. some people are just a-holes.. and they dont know that because no one tells them.. and it's not because people are scared, it's because people dont care enough about that person to say anything.

on the way to vegas, i have no idea why, but "can't hardly wait" was brought up.. so when i returned home after the awesome weekend, i decided to look through my dvd collection and pull it out.. watched it. and man, i still love this movie. and the soundtrack is awesome even though i cant find that cd anymore.. will have to download.

i'm sick. and the weather is hot.. does anyone else find it strange to have a cold during hot weather? it's so uncomfortable..

and i need a haircut.

weekend.

i dont know if i would have been able to survive this weekend without a phone replacement. so i'm glad. it seems like march was the month everything decided to break on me; first my camera's flash then my phone..

friday night after practice = jowena, jean, manucal, and i sleepover sewing and cutting party at jackie and mel's.

saturday. sportsfest halftime show. awesome. bmod and common ground mixer at chuck e cheese. then bmod kickback (formerly cg mixer) at jean's in irvine. apples to apples and kings up greatness. night: jean manucal and i head back to jackie and mel's for sleepover part 2.

IMGP6751
ms walk 2008

sunday. ms walk. uber awesome. a really great charity event. we walked to support hannah's brother, jacob, who walked 3 miles. a great sense of community and support all around. go team jacob!!!

although later that night = crazy. that's all i can say.

because i'm one of the few who liked it and thought it was clever and well directed (aside from the whole getting beth out of a building leaning on another building), i downloaded and will soon watch Cloverfield once again..

on a side note; andrew decided to dance with bmod again! it's great to have him back. and as far as how fast he learned when chris and i taught him on the side; he hasn't lost a beat.

palm.

yesterday was palm sunday. and that marks the beginning of holy week. which also marks the end of the 40 nights that Jesus fasted in the desert. so for all you people dying over what you gave up for Lent, you can technically do it now.. or be extra good and wait till Easter. i'm not complaining cuz that just means one more friday for cheap filet-o-fish sandwiches from mcdonald's. those things are awesome. and ridiculously overpriced outside of Lent season. and WHY haven't i seen them do the 99cent 6-piece chicken nuggets in forever?

saturday was the world of dance tour. the crowd outcome was as i expected, but the venue(s) to fit that huge crowd was smaller than i thought it would be. i dont think i've seen that many dancers in one place. although, i didn't get to see a single performance; even the ones i was there for. i was helping run the rooted table for most of the time, so bert can finally watch Sheroes perform. thanks to vince, a lot of us got extra vip status bracelets: i was a vendor, performer, and at the end when i didn't even need my camera anymore, got media access. so most of my world of dance pictures were taken by vangie.

last night, froi mark and i visited jackie and mel's apt and watched 'the eye' and 'el orfanato.' and i must say, those guys are hilarious watching scary movies. i dont know what mark is talking about when he says he 'laughs' at scary movies.. cuz he definitely was not laughing last night. and poor scruffy (jackie's dog) would wake up and adjust his sleeping position every time the two would scream at the movie.

and then i came home and in all randominity, found that my sister jokingly left this on my desk:

IMGP5801
grillz candy.. wtf??

it's candy.. more specifically, a lollipop. like an old school ring pop.. except the 'ring' is instead a grill you put over your front teeth. i just had a "what is the world coming to???" moment. weirdness indeed.

gatorade.

i went to smart & final today to get the house (and my car) a bottle of glass cleaner.. i like to stay away from cleaners with ammonia cuz it can prove to be detrimental to some surfaces over time. and because of that, i didn't go to target. i've tried target before, but they only had windex with ammonia.. so i now prefer smart & final for my glass cleaning needs (glass plus w/ no ammonia). while i was there i stumbled upon the heaven's chosen that is THIS:

gatorade frost 24-pack

yes. a 24 pack of gatorade. not the wannabe powerade, but gatorade. and not just any gatorade. but it was the frost series. and that includes my favorite flavor: glacier freeze.

there's no need to say that the original three flavors: lemon-lime, fruit punch, and orange are near perfect, and that they are the original gangstas of gatorade-ness. but they, while very good, taste too basic for me. the frost series comes in three flavors: glacier freeze, cascade crash, and riptide rush; which are all mixed flavors that the gatorade guys concocted to optimize an instant 'cooling' sensation when used to rehydrate from a vigorous activity. here's what i thought.

glacier freeze: a very light blue color. almost milky translucent. not too exciting to look at. but it tastes awesome. refreshing and quenching the moment you taste it. if you imagine what gatorade and frost in a bottle tastes like, it would be this. 9.5/10

cascade crash: a darker and deeper blue color. from its looks, one would probably assume that it's going to be a giant blue party in your mouth. but i was disappointed. it didn't live up to it's lighter colored blue brother. the taste, to me, was a bit too bold for the frost series, but not horrible. i drank one before i started typing this up and right now im left with a weird aftertaste. not the best of experiences. 4/10

riptide rush: a lighter purple color. if you know me, i dont like anything grape. and from its color i assumed grape. but upon tasting it, the grape flavor wasn't too strong. and it was mixed with some other berry flavor. definitely not as bad an experience and is much more refreshing as the cascade crash. 6/10

and that's my random review of gatorade frost.

it's only 10:49pm and i'm already sleepy and tired.. and it would normally be only 9:49pm.. weird yes? damn daylight savings is confusing my body. perhaps is cuz of the hour of sleep we all lost..

with my mom up north for some trip, that means my dad can come to visit. and so he did. it was nice seeing him after a while of not. well it's nice seeing him no matter what, but since there's now a deflection involved with our chances of seeing him, it makes it a bit better when we do. so we had pizza for dinner. i havent had pizza for dinner here in such a long time (it's our go-to food when my mom's not around.. and we all suck at cooking). we randomly started discussing that "red box" at albertson's where you can rent a dvd for $1. my dad and sister have done it.. and i'm considering doing it so i can just copy them and wont have to spend so much time downloading them. it's only a dollar a movie anyway.

watched the orphanage/el orfanato. a horror movie from the same people that did pan's labyrith. it was not as scary as i thought it would be, but still creepy nonetheless. especially since it's about a bunch of children.. which are the most creepy things you could put in a movie.. other than dakota fanning, whatever she is.

lost.

lost = whoa. this show is the awesome.

last night, i was preparing myself for a very uneventful friday. but rk called and i was surprised to find out he was in town. so, a bottle of patron + picking up johanna at the village = us drinking at random places. we attempted to surprise some friends at mixbowl in the parking lot but it was a very hot place for the five-o so we decided to continue at the pine apartments. ended up visiting leo/ermie/analisa's place and chilled there for the rest of the night. but the fun-ness died out quick as people started to pass out.. either my tolerance increased or patron just does not do it for me.. but at least i got to spend the remainder of my boring night with other people right?

movies watched this week: turistas -- ehh; the kingdom -- i was browsing the web as i watched, but it was a good movie; enchanted -- good, but girly and date-y; dan in real life -- loved it. i put it in the "quirky" category that i put juno and little miss sunshine in, the all-star cast but independent-ish direction. great movie.

i really want to see vantage point. i've been hooked on that ever since i saw the preview, and i've already heard great reviews from friends (although online reviews seem to really hate it..)

all.

long overdue.

going out on a limb by recommending a movie that probably doesn't tend to a universal audience: across the universe. i've always wanted to see it when i saw the preview a looong time ago. it's pretty much a musical.. except its story is told entirely through beatles' songs. i love the renditions of the songs i grew up hearing (my dad is a huge beatles fan, so i'm quite familiar with their songs). except when put in the movie's context, i really paid attention to the lyrics more. before, they'd just be old songs i knew, but watching the songs played out in a scene gave me an understanding of the songs, albeit not the same message the beatles were trying to convey at some points, but an understanding nonetheless. the movie had some slow points and some weird points (can we say acid trip??), but all-in-all, i enjoyed it much. and anyone who thinks they only know 1 or 2 beatles songs may be surprised that they know a lot more..

i was a victim of identity theft last week. bank of america emailed me, saying there has been some irregular activity on my checking card. so i go online to check, and yup, there it was, a charge that was not made by me. it's debit entry was something like: PROJECTS 6:38 ID LEON LLD... whatever that means, and it was only made for $3.24. i was amazed that the bank could identify a fraudulent charge made to such a small amount! but for that i'm thankful. so i gave them a call and i felt like i was being interrogated with all these questions they were asking me to confirm that i was actually me. and after all that they just told me that they'd shut down my card to prevent any further purchases and will be sending me a new one in a couple of days. well it came back today.. and i'm kindof hesitant to put it back in my wallet. just from these last few days, i saved quite a bit of money since i couldn't use my card.

also in bmod news, we broke the news to the team yesterday.. that they were selected to compete in san diego's fusion 2008 competition in april. i am both very excited and proud of them! anyone who has ever attended fusion has an idea of the degree of hugeness this is. the lineup is as follows: barkada modern, cadc, choreo cookies, common ground, grv, kaba mdoern, nsu modern, pac modern, studio one, and team millennia. sharing the stage with those teams is an honor in itself.

oh yeah, people on the team finally got into watching the office. wewt.

ai.

caught an episode of american idol tonight.. i didn't even know the season started.. and i noticed: yeah the bad auditions were funny a few seasons ago, and it got the show a lot of ratings.. but for some reason they just aren't funny or even remotely interesting anymore.

randomly watched the italian job today. forgot how much i liked that movie. and i was surprised to see a z3 zip by in one of the scenes. and yes, those MINIS still look like a fun car to have. i've driven pat's mom's MINI and it really feels like you're driving a toy car/kart.

also, after seeing a bmw e90 meet at the structure during bmods practice, i did a search online for any regional forums planning an e90 meet so i could see what came of the pictures they were taking. found them on the e90post.com forums. and 'lo and behold, that's the forum where kuya linden frequents. so we had a nice "hey!" moment on the boards. yay. nerd++.

my dad came over for dinner last night. it was the first time i've seen him since christmas. i guess he needed a little time off from the family? because you know, you can just turn family on and off like that right? and moving out wasn't enough time off already. yeah, i'm still somewhat bitter about the situation.. but i'm not questioning or doubting his love for us. that is eternal and i know it. but seeing your father figure and role model running away from his problems kinda makes it harder... (that's what she said)

eh, over it. or not.. lost starts up today. 2 hour premiere. there are currently enough episodes written/filmed before the writers guild strike to last till march. that's always good. i'm going to have to get myself situated with the lost characters again before i watch though. it's been quite a while..

retreat.

IMGP4413

it's only january and i already know its going to be hard to top this weekend for the rest of the year. while it came with a fair dosage of stress, everything just happened to fall into place. i must thank bmod board for making everything so much easier while we were up there. and the team for both helping out and definitely making the trip worth it. arvin neil and i had a pretty good session on the mountain. not surprised at how fast neil caught on. i hit a jump after a year of not; looked ugly in the air but landed. and having not fallen at all while snowboarding, but eating it hard due to an ice patch while walking off the last step off the mountain not even strapped in was classic. fail. more shenanigans at the cabin. i was impressed by all the impersonations. hilarity.

afterwards, getting home and passing out at in&out after eating chipotle was a good sum of what happened. then a handful of us met up again for an extended retreat and proceeded to watch cloverfield. which i liked, dispite all the bad reviews from fellow viewers. but as far as a film that is meant to be a 'realistic' monster movie and the filming method portrayed as a tape being found, i dont see how else the movie could have ended. had all questions been answered, it would have to take away from the movie and the essence of it being a simple government document. the direction and 'handheld' camera-ness made the movie that much better to me. and seeing janis ian from mean girls portraying a role so different than i'm used to was icing on the cake. with all that said, i'm a fan of the series 'lost.' j.j. abrams is an amazing director, and i would not recommend watching lost if you didnt like the movie; the post-confusion/talk happens after every single episode.

we then headed over to mel's to even further extend retreat and had food and watched the office and played catchphrase. pretty much did what we did at the cabin during chill time.
